The Sub7 and Sub8 Projects are a unique opportunity to explore the limits of endurance, bring the sport of triathlon to the world, and inspire a new generation. Four athletes are set to race over the full distance (3.8-kilometer swim, 180-kilometer bike, 42-kilometer run) with a goal not only to go faster than anyone in history, but to break the mythical 7- and 8-hour barriers – targets long thought to be beyond the scope of human physical achievement.
Dual Olympic gold medalist Alistair Brownlee. Reining Olympic champion Kristian Blumenfelt. Three-time Ironman vice world champion Lucy Charles-Barclay. Five-time Olympian Nicola Spirig. Four athletes looking to defy the impossible. How hard is it? Well they’ll need to swim at Olympic open water medallist pace, cycle faster than the quickest Tour de France stage over 100 miles ever ridden, and then run the quickest marathon ever done in a full-distance triathlon. Impossible? Only one way to find out.
