Following her third-place finish at the 2020 Karlovy Vary ITU Triathlon World Cup, MANA’s Maya Kingma continued her upward trajectory with a podium finish in the WTCS season opener in Yokohama.

After a front pack swim, Kingma was off the front with American Taylor Knibb for most of the race, dominating the TV coverage with a powerful display of bike strength. When it came down to the run, Kingma showed she was not just a swim-biker, but also had the talent to finish the race off in style, bagging a third-place finish and bronze medal.

Maya commented, “I’m incredibly happy that my aggressive riding on the bike resulted in my first WTCS medal and amazing to do so with Taylor Knibb! I think this shows I can have an impact on the racing at the highest level.”

With the first race of the year complete, the only way is up. She’s shown her competitors how much damage she can do on the bike following a powerful swim. So watch this space as the results pile up!
