Mana’s wide global network creates opportunities to connect organisations around shared goals and amplify what they can achieve together. By aligning expertise, resources and reach, Mana helps partnerships extend beyond what any one organisation could achieve alone, creating the conditions for wider social change.
The strategic partnership between the Pho3nix Foundation and Dallaglio RugbyWorks Liverpool demonstrates how these connections can translate into greater opportunities for young people through sport.
Where it all began: the inaugural Pho3nix Sport with Purpose Gala
Mana brought leading sporting figures and purpose-driven organisations together at the inaugural Pho3nix Sport With Purpose Gala in Switzerland in 2025. Lawrence Dallaglio OBE was a natural addition to the guest list: A Rugby World Cup-winning former England captain, he has continued his involvement in sport through Dallaglio RugbyWorks, using rugby to support young people facing barriers to education and employment.
His invitation gave Dallaglio the opportunity to learn more about Pho3nix and created an opening for the two organisations to explore their shared commitment to changing young lives through sport.
He said: “RugbyWorks was created to support some of the hardest-to-reach young people, many of them thrust into chaotic circumstances who need just a bit of support to get on track. Through the power of rugby, we help take them on a different journey. Partnering with the Pho3nix Foundation feels like a natural fit.”
Expanding Opportunities in Liverpool
The partnership focuses on Dallaglio RugbyWorks’ Liverpool programme, which operates in an urban environment where deep-rooted structural barriers continue to affect young people’s life chances. Access to structured sport, positive mentorship and consistent support can be limited, particularly for those facing multiple disadvantages.
Through term-time school sessions and evening community programmes, Pho3nix Dallaglio RugbyWorks Liverpool uses rugby to provide structure, mentorship and a safe environment where young people can build confidence, develop skills and connect with positive role models.
The programme is designed to reach those who are least likely to engage with traditional support systems. Many participants come from low-income households and face overlapping challenges, including additional educational needs, unstable home environments and limited access to consistent support.
Through regular sport-based activities, participants develop transferable life skills, with reported improvements in teamwork, communication, problem-solving, resilience and digital capability.
Pho3nix Foundation support has enabled the programme to expand into more schools, increase evening and community-based sessions, recruit additional staff and introduce year-round provision to provide greater continuity of support.
The long-term ambition is to establish a city-wide delivery model engaging more than 1,000 young people annually, with consistent pathways back into education, employment or training.
Building for the Future
For Mana, the thrust is making sport mean more. By connecting complementary missions with the resources and networks needed, Mana helps turn shared ambition into practical action, building a foundation for sustainable growth and wider social impact.
