Pho3nix partners with Swiss star Nicola Spirig’s Kids Triathlon

The Pho3nix Foundation is pleased to announce the launch of the 2021 Pho3nix Kids Triathlon by Nicola Spirig, in partnership with the dual Olympic medalist. Slated to run throughout the Swiss summer, the series will start in Sursee, Switzerland on the 27th of June — four days after Olympic Day and exactly one month until Spirig will line up at the Tokyo Olympics, her fifth Games appearance.

Succeeding races will be held in Bülach (3rd July), St. Moritz (8th August), Sarnen (14th August), Balsthal (21st August), Locarno (4th September), Schaffhausen (12th September), Vevey (TBC) and Bern (TBC).

“I believe that sport is one the best schools for life, with the lessons one learns in sport also helping individuals overcome hurdles in everyday life and being better able to tackle problems and solve them successfully,” says Spirig. “This is the message we wish to send to kids with our Foundation events throughout Switzerland.”

The rebranding in partnership with Pho3nix Foundation brings a new look to the series with the same great fun. Formerly known as the Kids Cup by Nicola Spirig, the Pho3nix Kids Triathlon by Nicola Spirig emphasises the unofficial Olympic motto “The main thing is not victory, but participation” through organising races where children can learn about sporting values in a playful manner. Funds generated by the events feed back into the local clubs which then offer children regular training sessions, promoting access to sports and supporting young people in the long term.

The Pho3nix Kids Triathlon by Nicola Spirig is aligned with the Foundation’s purpose to promote health and wellness and encourage an increase in physical activity and sports participation among youth. Furthermore, the Pho3nix Foundation is poised to roll out a global Pho3nix Kids Triathlon event series, leveraging triathlon networks in England, Spain, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, and Australia to inspire children to live a more active and healthy lifestyle.

The Pho3nix Foundation is heavily involved in projects creating pathways towards sporting excellence and inspiring people to reach for their goals. The Pho3nix Team supports elite athletes in the upper echelon of their sports. The Pho3nix Athlete Program provides financial assistance for Olympic-bound athletes. The Junior Athlete Program is a global search for emerging junior sporting talent who require financial assistance to continue to participate and engage in their chosen sport. The Pho3nix Education Program is a first-of-its-kind physical education program that embraces modern technology to reach and engage children and schools, encouraging and rewarding physical activity. Finally, Pho3nix’s marquee project Sub7 Sub8 features four of the world’s greatest long-distance triathletes in an attempt to break the 7-and-8-hour barrier over the full distance.
