The Pho3nix Foundation today announced their partnership with the Professional Triathletes Organisation (PTO) for their ground-breaking Sub7 Sub8 Project.
The attempt, set to take place in 2022, pits four of the world’s best athletes against each other in a bid to break the mythical 7-hour (men’s) and 8-hour (women’s) marks for the full distance triathlon, pushing the limits of what’s possible and delivering the sport to a global audience. Along with an innovative and immersive live broadcast, Pho3nix will take audiences on a behind the scenes journey both in the lead up to the event, and via a post-produced feature length documentary, as each athlete prepares to make history.
Pho3nix and the PTO share a common goal to support and elevate professional triathletes, placing them on the world stage, along with providing new and creative formats and events to capture global attention. Through the Sub7 Sub8 Project, the Pho3nix Foundation aims to inspire young people to challenge themselves through sport by showing that all goals are worth chasing. As the not-for-profit representative body for non-drafting professional triathletes, the PTO will provide invaluable support as Pho3nix strives to connect fans and supporters with these incredible athletes, as they attempt to #DefyTheImpossible.

The Sub7 and Sub8 Project will take place in 2022, with two-time Olympic gold medalist and multiple world champion Alistair Brownlee, Olympic gold and silver medalist Nicola Spirig, triathlon half distance world record holder Kristian Blummenfelt, and three-time Ironman World Championship runner-up Lucy Charles-Barclay taking on the audacious challenge.
